When does “wacky” translate to unelectable?
I’m just wondering, where, exactly, the Montana Republican Party thinks that the line should be drawn.
In sync with a national election year trend, ala Rand “Secret Society” Paul and Sharron “Armed Insurrection” Angle, the deeply unusual pool of Republican candidates now include a guy who offends veterans by sporting the confederate flag in a Memorial Day parade, and a woman who thinks teaching kids about nutrition and health is tyranny.
And then there is this guy.
Meet James Knox, a Koopman-endorsed kkkandidate running for the legislature in a Democratic-leaning district in the Billings heights. His only “experience” includes a failed run for the Billings City Council.
Local GOP pundits are not out of line worrying about the “eccentricity” level of the current slate of Republican candidates, though GOP staffers and their hangers-on feign support when the audience doesn’t contain undecided or persuadable voters, preferring, it appears, to try put a happy face on it all (without actually putting the oddballs forward as party leaders.)
Out in front or behind the scenes, these extremists are extremely unelectable.
There doesn’t seem to be any evidence that any strategic decisions were made at a party level on getting a slate of candidates into the legislature (rather than just using the primaries to co-opt Tea Bagger support. ) Pandering to the Tea Party wing has been more important than smart policy outcomes, and isn’t passing smart policy the whole point of electing legislators of either party?
James Knox is running in a tight race against Pam Ellis. Got five bucks? Send her some money.

You forgot Ron Lake, the guy running in the Dillon primary who spent time in prison beating someone with a 2 x 4 Hacksaw Jim Duggan style. Although to the credit of the voters in that district he didnt actually win.
Ive met this guy at a church in Billings, and yes he is very out there, but so are several candidates for office under the GOP this year. My opinion question all the teaparty endosements cause that tea party somethings in the tea. For example last night in Florida the GOP voters chose as their candidate a guy who has been atleast accused if not found guilty of medicare fraud now how does that jive in a state of retirees and from a party that is suppose to be about fiscal conservatism? Then John McCain he was opposed by a teabagger and beat him by a 2 to 1 margin yet John McCain has had to move sooo far to the right these last years that now he’s not John McCain anymore hes a fack a phony.
..makes me want to run for office if the people will elect a no-talent ass clown without any experience whatsoever…
