Three Things You Can Do Right Now to Stop the Bigots

1-Make sure you are registered to vote. Jay is right. If we don’t vote, these people are going to be making our state laws.

2-Give to the Montana Democratic Party. The party has a legislative campaign committee that is working to elect some really great legislators like Aaron Kampfe, Pam Ellis, and Will Hammerquist–there are too many to list, but if you give 10 bucks to the MDP you help them all.  Right now, they are facing the challenge of apathetic voters and an uphill battle on election day.  A small donation really does make a big difference.  Plus your gift will serve the additional purpose of letting the dems know that this is an important issue for which people are willing to stand up.

3-Give to the Montana Human Rights Network. Then sign up for their action network. This is a local and very effective organization that works to shine the light on extremist groups in Montana.  They can’t do it alone.  If we don’t do something, no one else is going to do it.

Bigot = obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices [as followers of this blog are devoted to Liberalism] – one who regards or treats the members of a group – as followers of this blog treat T.E.A. Patriots and Christians and Conservatives – with hatred and intolerance
ergo: Montana Cowgirl and her followers are – BIGOTS!

    • Moorcat

First, not everyone following this blog are Liberals. If I had to be classified (which is pretty silly since my votes tend to run the gambit), I would be a moderate conservative. I follow this blog because Cowgirl seems pretty adept at finding stories others (including the main stream media) miss.

Second, while there are people here who blanket lable conservatives and Tea baggers with hatred and intolerance, you will find that the majority here actually talk about the actual speech and actions of specific members. What these two Tea bagger leaders have said on thier facebook blog was racists (as well as be intensely ignorant) and they were ousted from the Tea party because of it. You would do well to actually take the lesson and realise that the majority of people in the US (Conservatives and Liberal alike) will not tolerate hate speech. This is a lesson you obviously haven’t learned yet. You are not doing your “party” any favor by continuing to drive people away with your rants.

Third, I have yet to see a “liberal” blog or facebook page vent the violent and hate-filled rhetoric that these two “winners” have done. Show me one liberal blog or facebook page in Montana that even comes close to what has been posted here and you might be able to sway someone. Until then, you are pissing in the wind.

classic tea partier, every time they are called out for bigotry, they turn around and call the accuser a bigot. sigh.

    • LChad

Well if it wasn’t so true, I have seen great intolerance shown in support of tolerance. We could all have a real conversation here if the name calling would STOP.

    • Jim Greaves

There you go again. Calling the TEA movement members “teabaggers”. We’ve been here for over a year with the homo term for an act not fit for prime time. This is NOT about sex, but you immature morons won’t stop referring to it that way. Talk WITH us, not at us, not to us, but with us, and we can all have a serious discussion of the problems we all are going to face when Ubummer-care kicks in.

just goes to show that when you shine a flashlight into dark corners all sort of vermin crawl out.

makes one wonder how many other dark corners in the tea party/republican party could use a little more public exposure?

    • Moorcat

I wish to take issue with the catagorization that Tea baggers are by definition Republicans and Republicans are by definition Tea Baggers. That just doesn’t fly. There are Tea bagger members that are Republican and the Republicans in Montana have tried to capitalize on the Tea Bag movement, but they are certain not the same thing and your characterization that they are shows an ignorance you don’t normally display. They are two seperate animals. It is no different than saying that environmental terrorists are all Democrats and all Democrats are environmental terrorists. It doesn’t pass the smell test.

Do what you do best – point out the faulty thinking of individuals. You do that very well. Please don’t marginalize your effective discourse with broad characterizations thats will only tend to push people of differing opinions away. As a conservative, I am disgusted with the actions of these two Tea Baggers but when you paint me with the same brush, I am less likely to take you seriously.

Montana Human Rights Network is about the most BIGOTED group known to me. They hunt their presumed enemies and assault them with hatred, ad hominem, slander, lible and lies.

      • Jim Greaves

There you go again. Name-calling. What exactly did that do to further knowledge, show YOUR intelligence, or add to the wisdom of the human race?

        • Wulfgar

I don’t have to, pissant, liar, wuss. You start to show yourself worthy of engagement, wuss. You won’t, I know. You have no knowledge, and you never will. I have no obligation to give you any knowledge, brick head. Come on, wuss. I can’t further your knowledge because you’re too damned dumb to accept any; so screw you. Fall off a cliff for all I care. You don’t give a shit about the human race, teabagging asswipe. You just want me to play by your rules. Won’t happen, stupid. Not once. Not ever.

  5. problembear

where in the hell did i say “all” republicans or “all” tea party members, moorcat?

    i said:

just goes to show that when you shine a flashlight into dark corners all sort of vermin crawl out.

makes one wonder how many other dark corners in the tea party/republican party could use a little more public exposure?

i think it would be fair to say that crazy people are drawn to all parties for various reasons. i never use all in any statement. you can check them. saying never and all just isn’t in this writer’s corral of words. when i said all vermin that was obviously talking about the people who were forced to quit.

  6. problembear

mr greaves; you are exhibiting all the traits of a paid right wing blog spinner here. your attempts to debate everyone here at once is too obvious to ignore.

i am telling you that your attempts to deflect the damage caused by the heinous behavior of some of your tea partiers won’t wash with me. the hypocrisy of calling us bigots is too fraught with humour to take seriously when we are attempting to shine a light on extreme bigotry and violent tendencies of previous members of your illustrious party.

i am not paid one red cent. as a citizen of montana i am appalled at the behavior of your previous members which unless this light had not been shined upon your dark corner, none of your party members were inclined to even so much as criticize publicly.

now if someone from the tea party had come out before the shit hit the fan here i might allow a grain of credibility to your mercenary efforts. but since your party seemed content to allow these members to spout off before the great falls tribune published this i can only surmise that you are simply engaging in damage control here.

i categorically deny any such attempts, sir. the only bigots i see here are previous members of your party. i look forward to seeing more exposed. good luck with your astro-turfing as more of these dark corners are exposed.

    • LChad

“the only bigots i see here”
Bigot = obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices [as followers of this blog are devoted to Liberalism] – one who regards or treats the members of a group – as followers of this blog treat T.E.A. Okay, on either side of your keyboard, you will find a key called “shift.” If you press it down before you strike a letter-key, the letter will appear in upper-case form. You would have learned this in typing class if they hadn’t spent all the time talking about gay marriage.

        • Mark T

Fleischman … the most troubling aspect of blog exchanges with you was your lack of content. You’re one of those flowery emotional types that has little grasp of political reality. It all goes on around you. Politicians eat your type for breakfast, so easy are you to manipulate.

Don’t be having thoughts about the small thoughts of others here then.

  7. LChad

“traits of a paid right wing blog spinner ” Ha Ha Ha Ha LOL
You can’t imagine that a real human would hold opinions and have the intestinal fortitude to counter your leftist bilge with out getting paid for it – Ha Ha Ha
I know Jim and he is not now being paid by ANYONE – he is unemployed and without any government benefits. ASSumption in a tail spin…
I refer you to lmy earlier comment post with the definition of BIGOT which fits so well to all the opinionated liberal sophist followers here at MT Cowbird.

  8. problembear

just like most criminals, these damage control mercenaries always like to pretend they have been mistreated most unfairly.

    evil nature always feigns persecution.

  9. problembear

it always amazes me that these professionals can’t seem to win one online rhetorical nerf ball fight with a poor black bear living on stale cinnamon rolls in montana.

  10. problembear

oh i see. we’re the bigots. yet the montana tea party, until badgered incessantly night and day by the montana press and blogosphere, was more than happy to not only provide harbor for obvious bigotry but make them leaders.

    • LChad

TEA does not opperate like the majory Parties D or R in election of officials & nomination of candidates – all are individuals. Stand alone persons – who go out on a limb to run for office – get support from various local groups IF they meet certain criteria: Support the Constitution and Limited Government, and promote the Principles of Liberty. The mining of facebook has revealed misjugment and foolishness, not unlike the Video Breitbart posted of Ms. Sherrod exposing her racism.

    • LChad

and yes, I observe bigotry here at MTCowpie. And, who is getting paid to post? I know it’s NOT me.

  11. problembear

the hypocrisy of using the term bigot in order to damage-control the noise about having bigoted members of the montana tea party ousted is just about reaching the absolute limit of credibility possible in mercenary blog-spinning isn’t it?

i mean don’t you risk what little credibility you have left after this to attempt to spin this? not to mention insulting the intelligence of every reader who sees these ridiculous attempts to deflect and stifle comments about just how embarrassing it is for the montana tea party to have to oust their own leaders for obvious manifestations of bigotry and violent tendencies?

  12. problembear

so you think, like the sherrod incident where a jackass edited out a certain part of a video in order to misrepresent her meaning, that the facebook page was somehow edited to misrepresent your illustrious leader/s? is this your contention?

    • LChad

“edited out” don’t you mean trimmed to fit the format to expose the prime kernel of racism? Can’t have it both ways.

  13. LChad

If the shoe fits problembear, it’s probably yours. No one is deflecting or stifling any commentary, only commenting on comments. I never defended any statement made by Kristi Allen-Gailushus or Tim Ravndal or Tom Burnett – that’s for them to do. My issue is the generalizing and villifying of the whole of T.E.A. by the followers of this blog. I displays BIGOTRY, without defence.

  14. problembear

why shouldn’t we villify an organization that allowed these bigots to be leaders?

in fact, wouldn’t it be rather naive to think that the ouster of two people from your party is the end of bigotry and hatred in a party which has been funded and supported by billionaires to foment just such in america?

who would not question the so-called american patriotic credentials of a party which fosters fear, hatred, racism and homophobia to attract members. i don’t doubt that the tea party has many good people in it who will soon leave when they find out that it is funded by the wealthy in order to put in place candidates that will make them wealthier.

  15. LChad

Well then, can I villify the Democrats AND Republicans for allowing the last several decades of leaders to drive this nation to the brink of disaster.

“party which fosters fear” = Democrats & Republicans

“find out that it is funded by the wealthy” – no one wealthier than G. Soros, B. Gates, T. Turner, bankrolling the left…

Your accusations of ‘astro-turf’ TEA Patriots is bogus.

King of racism = Rev. Wright – “fosters fear, hatred, racism and homophobia”

Come on… this is getting tiresome. Who is your target? What is your purpose?

  16. problembear

my purpose is none of your business. you can villify whoever you want. i am an independent. i just get a kick out of rhetorically mauling those who sell fear, greed, bigotry and hate.
