Millionaire congressman Dennis Rehberg is scrambling to spin his vote against a measure that would have prevented him from getting a paycheck if he shuts down the federal government. Despite Rehberg’s attempt to spin the truth, his vote against the measure was a vote allowing members of Congress to keep getting paid during a shutdown.
The non-partisan, Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-check website Politifact is confirming Rehberg’s vote to keep giving himself paychecks during a shutdown.
Senator Jon Tester led the charge in the Senate to prevent pay for members of Congress during a Republican government shutdown. The legislation unanimously passed the Senate.
But when Rehberg and the House of Representatives took up the measure last Friday, Rehberg voted against it (see the vote for yourself HERE).
