 Pass the Caviar, Congressman Hill

We know that former GOP Congressman Rick Hill’s campaign for Governor has made some questionable expenditures. But champagne, really?

If this is how the campaign spends money, I’d hate to see what they do with our tax dollars.

Rehberg fails to stop himself from blocking Montana jobs

Rehberg sent out a press release recently claiming that Tester had “Failed to stop his liberal allies and donors from blocking Montana jobs.  Here’s the screenshot:

The problem is,  as Montanans for Tester points out, Congressman Rehberg is the only member of Montana’s congressional delegation who has voted against the Keystone XL pipeline.

In other words, he failed to stop himself from blocking Montana jobs.

Another Santorum grossout

Another weird detail involving Republicans and birth has come to light. This time, it isn’t birtherism. At issue is the fact that Rick Santorum’s wife Karen was actually delivered by a man that later became her live-in boyfriend.

Was he thinking “Hey, I bet this baby is going to turn out to be really hot one day”? The lovers weren’t married.  Oh, and the guy, who is now 92, was an abortion doc.  Santorum is running on hardline opposition to abortion and premarital sex for Americans, but I guess it’s different when it comes to his own wife’s past.

  1. That’s funny.
The Watchdog reports that Rehberg is all for Keystone. Something is wrong with your story

    http://montana.watchdog.org/2012/01/18/feds-to-reject-keystone-xl-pipeline-today-politico-reports/

  2. Kids, stop fighting. keystone will be approved, and the election will not influence that outcome, only the timing. The forces that make those things happen are only peripherally influenced by electoral politics. Citizens in the Ukraine knew they had no power to stop things when large industrial projects took place. That’s a big difference. You imagine you have some power. . All Obama did was, for political reasons, delay approval.

    • Norma Duffy AKA ILIKEWOODS | January 19, 2012 5:54 PM at 5:54 PM |

What Planet are you on tonight Mark, KL pipeline wont be approved anytime soon because it does not benefit the country! This was strictly a Political ploy by the GOP, and it didn’t work! No jobs, No steel manufacture because all the piping was bought from India, none of the oil will be refined here cuz thats something china wants to do, no other Canada provinces want the pipeline in their areas…. Nebraska doesn’t want it at all, and neither do other states on that aquafer…. Its done and over with!

      • It will be approved. Politics interfere but do not impare. Obama, a captive of the office, is reading his lines. When the election is over (he will win, if you take comfort in that sort of thing), it will be approved. Obama and the promoters of this fiasco could care less about fallout after that. It was never about jobs or any such nonsense. It is only about what is feasible in the political climate. the people who own the country run the country. The politicians are mere employees.

        Learn politics.

  3. This simpy means that Santorum not only believes in protecting fetuses, he believes in dating them as well.

  4. The best “dirt” you could dig up on Sonju was that he had champagne at Hill’s announcement? Really reaching there.

  5. @ppppolls: Gingrich surge due to his assault on the professional media.

Watching him work the crowds as he verbally brutalized his journalist debate hosts caused cringing that had no description until the word “nutcutter” appeared in a Montana blog.

The press walks the finest of lines as it weaves readable narratives for an audience struggling for the facts where whistle-blowing looks like vendetta, especially in an election year.

    “Then they came for me…”

    • Huh? You fools are so involved in your own conspiracy theories as to be completely unintelligible. Please, do keep it up. You present a fascinating expose of the liberal mindset.

      • The press has a duty to ask uncomfortable questions regardless of whose feelings get hurt.

Ask Dennis McDonald about herding Democrats. The good news is that we have better candidates than the earth haters do.

      • Drill Baby Brill… I agree 100% It’s actually quite amusing, and I find some of the rants hilarious.

As for the Keystone Pipline, personally I think it is being delayed because of the upcoming election. To win the enviromentalist votes. Then again, he loses votes because the pipline could have provided an estimated 20,000+ jobs. Now we have the fear of loosing the oil to China, and we will continure importing conflict oil. Good job Obama. Then to say there wasn’t enough time? Nebraska changed up their plans for the route slightly and that stopped TransCanada from stopping construction completely, even though there are 3 states above it? I beleive Governor Schweitzer and Obama are delaying the project as long as possible for the upcoming election. Just my theory.

        • I think rants from both sides are amusing.

“I’m going to do a wild-ass guess here and say that you read Atlas Shrugged and think it’s a really smart book and that the rest of us just don’t get it” That’s great.

      • You’re kind of a low IQ specimen yourself, DBD, first the name, indicating cluelessness about the effects of carbon-based living, and then to come here loaded with right wing radio talking points, pretending to have actually had a thought now and then.

I’m going to do a wild-ass guess here and say that you read Atlas Shrugged and think it’s a really smart book and that the rest of us just don’t get it. If so, this would make you a f****** moron. Democrats aren’t the brightest people, but you are helping them feel smart. Keep at it.

        Have a nice day then.

  6. Sen. Tester: distance yourself from the President at your own political peril. SOTU will be “economic blueprint.”

2012 is our year, Dems: we have the momentum; let’s not blow it.

  7. Montana Democrats: keep your eyes on the prize and arm yourselves against the enemies of democracy.

Make sure that Senator Tester knows that you want him to fight for safe water, safe shelter, safe food, and safe sex; and, reject the GOP’s history of cheap water, cheap shelter, cheap food, and cheap sex.

    • Whatever you do, be clueless about what your Senator is actually doing.

    • since obammy signed the clearly unCONstitutional ndaa…
is he an enemy of THEMocracy…
or an enemy of the state?

      • Simply show what’s unconstitutional about it and we might have a talk.

        • oh…
          say…
warrantless arrest, no right to counsel, indefinite detention…
          to mention a few.

          http://www.aclufl.org/news_events/?action=viewRelease&emailAlertID=3763

          and this is regarding aliens…
          that is to say…
they could end up with more CONstitutional rights…
          than we do…
          only in amelika…
er, well, and germany a while back.

          • Hate to point out the obvious, cupcake, but your link doesn’t deal with the NDAA at all. Do try again.

            • the point is, it deals with similar enough issues…
take the rubber band off your forehead and consider…
if it is constitutionally inappropriate to hold illegals without due process…
how is it possible to do likewise to those of us from der homeland?
and what amelikan polly-taxer would sign on thinking they were upholding their absolute vow to defend the CONstitution?
              have at the obvious…
              it’s obvious.

              • That was about non-nonsensical.

What is it with you and rubber-bands on the forehead? Do you do that? Do you fantasize that others do? It makes no sense. Do you hang onions off your belt, as was the custom of the time? (Don’t sweat it, rleeh. Most everyone else will get that even if you don’t.)

There is a huge difference between your opinion of what is “Constitutionally inappropriate” and what is actually unconstitutional. You claim the latter and have yet to show such, instead thinking that others are as stupid as you in believing the former means what you think it means. You are avoiding the question you fear. What is unconstitutional about the NDAA? It is a simple question. Answer it, if you can.

              • let us say, robster…
that air farce security shows up at your digs, invites themselves in and notifies you that you have won an all expenses paid vacation based on INTELLIGENCE they hold regarding you as a risk to the interests of der homeland.
you immediately fall under the law of war…
                so say they are wrong…
to the extent that they have the wrong address.
                sorry,but you are gone.
there is no way out, no way to backtrack because there will be no hearing or trial until the END OF HOSTILITIES. and unkie sham has a boatload of hostilities planned, if you haven’t noticed.
this thing is what lawyer-birds refer to as “free and loose” in terms of definitions etc. surely all definitions will work to OUR benefit. always did in the past, right? you know mccarthy and all. shooting 13 students in 13 seconds at kent state. oh say, that was a military policing action wasn’t it, and those kids were obviously working against the interests of der homeland. oh…and, nobody ever went to jail for the four murders.
now, you could be suffering from BLIND FAITH (not the band) and believe that such a thing could NEVER happen again here in the world’s model of THEMocracy.
you could say this doesn’t matter because the CONstitution is suspended because of war (maybe true)…
but it might be worth shutting down the big screen and seeking some answers from you favorite polly-taxer.
no doubt they will assure you zie schwitzen nicht.
and you can believe ALL those guys…
particularly since THEY are the ones who sold your ass down the githole.
i understand how difficult it is for a “true-believer” to grasp these things.
history screams up the black pipe about the humanitarian nature of our fair land…
                we are all protected, right?

                • You should write that horror fable into a book set in the not too distant future, like 1984. Be sure to have someone edit it, perhaps Mark. He fancies himself an expert at such things.

But the question remains, and I suggest that you can’t fight your nightmares if you don’t know what they are. You also can’t fight them alone. Like most of your type, though, anyone who even questions the fable you’ve built must certainly be ignorant, somnambulant (to use Mark’s latest misspelled accusation of heresy)or they are complicit with the enemies of your mythology. It’s just you against the world, I guess. If you truly have bought into the ‘with us or against us’ mentality, “us” being you, then just like Chimpy, you’ve picked a fight you can’t win. Good luck with that.

I am once again amused that those most vocal that there cannot be an incremental movement to the good are the most butt-puckered terrified by the inevitable incremental movement to evil.

                  • Mush. Mush! Your points, which you seem to regard as almost self-evident, are contradicted by facts on the ground. Obama has signed a bill codifying something he claimed already existed – the right to disappear people. It’s not a nightmare. It is real. He said he won’t do it (he will) but has set it in stone for future executives.

In the meantime you argue about incremental movement towards good. That is exactly the opposite of what you say is happening, making your arguments … Mush. That’s all that can be said. To stand there and say things that are plainly false by easily identified facts is … All I can think of is insane.

                    • You are fact free as always and wonder why you see only the mush you’re swimming in. Having finally agreed with me that you are insane, let me supply you with a few facts:

What Obama signed had nothing to do with the “right” to disappear people. I asked rleeh what was actually in the NDAA. He couldn’t answer. Clearly, neither can you.

Obama is correct, and you’re not. The ability for the US government to disappear people has always been there, as it is with any sufficiently powerful governmental structure. That ability was legally codified under the MCA, not the NDAA. Notice that was passed by a Republican House, a Republican Senate and signed by a Republican President. Please continue to tell those of us who already know this how Democrats are far worse.

The NDAA spells out explicitly under what circumstances the MCA detentions can apply. Missing the obvious, as you frequently do, I point out that is an incremental step to the good. Is it far enough? No. But it sure as hell isn’t what you and rleeh think it is.

Our government doesn’t have “rights”. It has laws, as constrained by the Constitution. Those laws can and are challenged given suitable case for review. Persons have rights, sadly some now extended to corporations. Since you don’t understand something so very basic, any claim you make of “facts on the ground” is false the moment you type it.

Incremental movements are not exclusionary of any other movement. You see absolutes only where you want them, and increments only where you fear them. Given your fact-free thinking, I’ve no interest in educating you about the difference here.

                  • so…
seems like big brother (take your shoes off please, oh darn, we gotta do a pat-down of your depends you terrorist ol’ bitch) made it here albeit a little later than orwell said…
                    no less reality…
if you don’t think you are living it…
need to quit the booze or the scripts and look around.

                    “your type”???
                    a-positive, you?

tough to exceed you true believers for mythology…
they almost match your nightmare republi-cons.
both of those fantasies would fail even if they were edited…
                    wait…
                    they are edited AND failing…
grunge-rich and the mittster are working on it as we speak…
you probably know they are distraction for some little sweet deals bear-rack and your polly-taxers in CON-gress got planned for you.
that would be in lieu of…
                    single-payer health care…
the end of the perpetual war…
                    closure of gitmo…
                    jobs…
                    etc etc.
                    so…
you must settle for less than promised.
                    all of it less.

perhaps you could take a kind moment and let the families of the murdered and the wounded in kent ohio, just let them know they are MYTHOLOGY.
maybe nam was just mythology and let us remember that the largest troop increase came via YOUR sacred THEMocrap (again, it doesn’t really matter since ALL the polly-taxers are untrustworthy scum).
and while you are at it seek out some families that have lost loved ones in the far sands…
and assure them it was all worth it, thank you for your service.

to take a page out of YOUR playbook…
show me the “incremental good” your scumbo’s have delivered us all?

last time i checked mark is not in this. are you reaching for something, robbie?

                    • Shorter rleeh:

‘You’re not as terrified as I am so you must be a “True Believer”.’

                      No rleeh, I’m just sane.

                      Another shorter rleeh:

‘Some people have been wronged so you must hate the government (all government?) as much as I do!’

I ask with all sympathy, rleeh, if you are such a miserable asshole about what’s happening in this country, why do you still live here? Big Brother hasn’t stopped you from moving, have they? Or is your interest really in bullying everyone else to be as miserable as you? It might surprise you to find that the vast majority of us know that bad things happen to good people. We just don’t blame everyone else for it.

last time i checked mark is not in this.

Apparently you didn’t bother to check the comment left 45 minutes before yours. No harm, no foul. I find you both equally delusional fantasists.

            • Sometimes he says “kitten” instead of “cupcake.” He’s a frightfully good writer.

              • easy, mark…
if you can’t trust you polly-taxers…
                who?

                • robnik…

i would have a good deal more confidence of your sanity if someone other than you made the declaration.

i have no idea who is shorter…
nor do i know who is “terrified”…
                  hate the government???
no idea what any of that means.
                  what proof is your juice?

my complaints are not an expression of “misery”…
rather, they are a statement that we don’t have to tolerate permanent war, nearly 1000 military installations to support and staggering corruption from our polly-taxers…
perhaps everybody is tied up with their big screen and payments on all they have over-bought and can’t be bothered with what is being done to them.
you haven’t noticed the “incremental” erosion of our civil rights?…
well, who knows how one could miss it…
unless they might be delusional as you are wont to name others.
as for escaping big bro/go somewhere else…
that is classic right wing nutso…
why should i have to do that?
why shouldn’t all of us just make unkie sham live by his own rules…

are you suggesting that the murder of millions of third worlders by unkie scam is “bad things happen to good people”?
                  kinda nazi ain’t it?
from the GREATEST CHRISTIAN NATION ON THE PLANET.
even if you are not christian (who could care?)…
decent human beings should protest unkie’s actions, no?

                  look…
                  i personally don’t care…
                  if you deny reality.
as i mentioned, denial was how the nazis stuffed the ovens…

and if you don’t see the wording of ndaa sec 1031 as troubling and free and loose (to be “adjusted” later at the whim of unkie)…
                  you have FAITH, brother, FAITH.
course those folk in south carolina who were injected with syphilis had faith, too…
                  lots of it.
you got a friend in unkie scammie.

                  • rleeh, you continue to ignore the obvious. I’ve read the NDAA, all sections. (~whisper~ psst, the section you are referring to is 1021, not 1031. But don’t worry. I wont tell anyone you did that. I wouldn’t want you to look foolish. ~/whisper~)

I’ll write this one more instance, and then I’m pretty much done wasting my time with you. The MCA, Military Commissions act, already codified what was accepted as executive power because of the AUMF act of 2002 (previously incarnated in 1991 for Chimpy’s Daddy, both of them to attack Iraq. Imagine that?.) The NDAA of 2012 actually puts constraints on executive power that favor Habeas rights and limits the executive power of the MCA.

If you really want to be helpful, rleeh, get yourself hauled off by the military. Then, your neighbors reporting it while clutching their guns has the ACLU alerted to your incarceration. It would take probably 3 weeks for them to get wind of your plight, and then all hell breaks loose in the Pentagon, as writ after writ flies rampant in DC.

Please, do you really think anyone should buy into your fear bullshit? If the black-baggers were coming for us, they’d do it and no one would know. That is, except the heavily armed neighbor, or Good Samaritan, who is probably also heavily armed. rleeh, this is not Germany in 1932 or 1934. This is not 1984. It is America, 2012. Information is as fast as a button click. You might want to warm to that fact …

                    • well, robster…

surely you’ll forgive a keystroke error of hitting 3 instead of 2.

                      but save your breath…

and no on mca and aumf…
                      wrong again.

here’s an opinion on ndaa from a guy who represented detainees and was inspired to write a book on habeas.
he’s a little less cheery than you about the use of this power and, as others have been, is careful about references to possible precedence in the application of the law.
but, you are clearly too smart to be bothered with the evolution of law and how the initial law can be dangerously altered in later rulings.

                      http://www.law.com/jsp/nlj/PubArticlePrinterFriendlyNLJ.jsp?id=1202519795140&slreturn=1

note the “fateful first step” he mentions…
                      he said “would”…
would became is when bear-rack signed.

this gentleman also suggests that any power granted will most assuredly be used.
                      simple history.

you’ll forgive me if i ride with him rather than you?

probably wouldn’t need to have the over 600k full time homeless buy into MY fear…
they might not be short any.
likewise the 3.8 million victims of foreclosure…
that would be just this year.
or who knows how many retirees were plunge into the black hole of elder poverty thanks to YOUR representatives in washing-down.
(say, you lose anything to those scum in the bankster take-down of the amelikan economy?)
the folks at wal-mart who used to make 40k and now make less than half, refuse my fear…
                      they got their own, thanks…

you betcha this is amelika 2012…
                      spread the word…
the folks in the far sands…
lives destroyed, nations destroyed, maybe tortured, family members dead…
                      they can’t believe it happened…
they don’t need no stinkin’ fear from the GREATEST CHRISTIAN NATION ON THE PLANET.

                      you are in great shape…
you KNOW the same vipers will never turn on their own.
