The Rob Stutz campaign reports that Stutz has a 30 second ad running. The ad is called “For the People.” Here it is:
Having met Rob and the rest of the Dems in this race, I really like ALL of them. I really wish they weren’t all running for this one office. They have very different and great qualities that could benefit this state. I think a couple could have done more by running for the state lege, but I don’t get to choose their destiny.
Let’s put it this way. At least in Butte, I didn’t hear ONE word about Ceement Jebus when these dems were in town. You wouldn’t believe the spookatorium that was the Cherry Creek-broadcast gubernatorial debate on Saturday, May 12. I’m just glad it wasn’t held on Mother’s Day. It would have been a total lack of Respeck (as Sasha Baril Cohen put it in his Ali G character) to mothers everywhere.
By the way, “The Dictator” opens this weekend. and it looks cromulent.
Bucky, we need to get Dopey Reeburp right ON this one! Alan west is right. There’s a WHOLE lotta godless commies runnin’ round in this country, and NOW, they done stole CEEment JAYsus! Dopey needs to hold some congressional hearings on this immediately!

I know, I like every Dem running for Congress, each has something good to bring to the office.
Seems like a nice guy. I wish he had run for legislature. He’s from Helena right? There are a couple there that could be replaced.
Did you notice the party affiliation was missing until the very last second in small print at the bottom?
Ingemar it standard procedure from both sides dummy. the writing at the very bottom, is necessary by federal and state law. Get a grip!
I have seen it more from your Teapublicans then Dems this year!
It may be standard procedure, but that doesn’t make it a good practice. Which party a candidate chose and represents is important information that voters have a right — and a need — to know. Why hide it or make it hard to notice?
Really?
In this Daines UTube the label “Republican” flashes up on the screen twice in 56 seconds.

Federal races don’t require it.
Sold! Pregnant with substance! American politics at its finest.
Private eyes, are watching you… Watching your every move.
As I have said before we have a great bunch of citizens that have come forth on the democratic side, to run for congress, that will help Montana grow properly, while protecting farming and people interest, not just big corporations. Rob is one of them, and I am proud to know him. A nice guy, but tough fair guy that will help Montana move forward!
Forward? Or do you mean “Vorwart”?

That was actually funny. You are a funny guy, Swede. That’s why we’ll kill you last.
;-)
No it wasn’t funny, Rob…that’s a reminder. Just like the Komsomol ratting out their parents.
You’re not funny. That’s why we’ll kill you first.
;-)
You must be a pretty sick dude in real life Swede. But remember those kind of people are really on your side.
AHHHHH The Tea Party, a collection of people who believe in creationism but deny the reality of global warming; who decry an overly-intrusive state, but dig into the government archives to track and publicly denounce those they accuse of being on American territory illegally, or want to stick machines up a women’s vagina while telling women what they can and cant have for healthcare.
That nasty group of poeple who constantly refer to the Founding Fathers, yet violate the spirit of the republic sought by Washington, Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison and the rest, by becoming corporate fascists….. Yep just like you
These bigots with their oversized waists and gas-guzzling 4x4s that spout the words of Jesus but never follow his advice, the idiots with teabags stapled to their hats, who have taken Media’s center stage when in reality they represent only themselves and their selfishness – which it must be said is not very much.
Whether it’s the witch trials of Salem or the witch hunts of Joseph McCarthy, the impeachment process of Bill Clinton, Prohibition or the rhetoric of Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America, a pact that would pave the way for a Republican majority that evaporated two years later, America’s evangelical right loves these obsessional delusions. That’s the fever of the Puritans, who believe in false Prophets like Billo, and Fox news shows.
Your part of that the agitated and paranoid people who imagine that the state will soon send in its political commissars or that your on the eve of some Stalinist purge, with black Helicopters… And like all of those who preceded the Tea Party Racists like you, in other forms of conservative disguise….You and your lot will eventually disappear, victims of your own incompetence, and after Moderate voters regain their senses, from the tea they are drinking today.
Laugh Buddy Laugh now as your 5 minutes of fame comes to an end this election.
Well of course Lil Ingemar wouldn’t listen to Jesus…. That love your neighbor stuff, doesn’t apply to tea party folk!

In answer to Swede’s insanity I give you Jim Wright –

Problem is, the ad doesn’t get to the real question: Who has a chance against Daines?
The front-runners look like the usual Democratic fare – good people who have zero chance of winning in the general. AKA, sacrificial lambs. AKA, a new and exciting way to lose in the same old fashion. But Stutz’s strict stance on refusing PAC money, his clean background, and his legal expertise might be just the right formula. Plus, his central focus on constitutional values is a way to reclaim territory the R’s always claim to occupy. Seems like he has a legitimate shot.
Make no mistake.. Regardless who wins this primary, defeating Daines will neither be easy or cheap. Daines has a HUGE amount of money behind him and whoever is running against Daines will have to not only bring their “A” game, they will have to be prepared for a serious and ugly campaign season. The Republicans do not want to lose the House of Representatives and they are prepared to wage a money war the likes of which we have probably never seen in a House race.
As far as Stutz’s chances to win the primary? I kind of doubt it. I do not deny that he is a legimate candidate but from where I sit, it looks like it will be between Diane Smith, Kim Gillan and Franke Wilmer. I am not ready to choose yet. I really like Diane Smith and Franke Wilmer and I have friends that have recommended both highly. Sadly, I am a little behind doing my homework on the candidates. This race really has me somewhat stymied.
On second thought, maybe not. Is it conventional wisdom that a “no PAC money” stance would kill any chance to win the general in this cycle?
I’d say a candidate can refuse PAC money and win–if she or he is a good fundraiser and can raise a boatload from other sources. If not an exceptional fundraiser, then they can’t win anyway.
I would say that a candidate that refused PAC money in this year’s election will get buried. The Citizen United decision (opening the door for VAST amounts of money to be funneled into campaigns) and the desire of the Republicans to keep the House of Representatives at any cost will dictate that any candidates running for the House will have to have a HUGE warchest to beat Daines.
Brian Schweitzer refused PAC Money when he ran for governor and he won, but he was much more successful at raising money then most candidates. I wouldn’t advise just anyone to do this.
It looks like the Dem, whether it’s Stutz or any of the others, will necessarily have a lot less money than Daines. Whether s/he takes PAC money or not.
It’s either David vs Goliath, or David’s pet goat vs Goliath.
