GOP Gov Candidates: Where Are They Now?

Have you been eagerly awaiting news of what’s next for the crackerjack slate of GOP-ers who failed to win their party’s nomination for Governor?

In an email  presumably addressed to the one “Gentleman” who must have inquired along these lines, the former running mate of international prostitute guide-book author Neil Livingstone has provided an answer to that question.

As James Conner at the Flathead Memo reports, former state Senator Ryan Zinke (R-Whitefish) has begun raising money for a super-PAC.  The PAC is called “SOFA,” though it is not meant to intentionally invoke the couch-potato-ish manner in which Livingstone and Zinke attempted to fund their own unsuccessful campaign for Governor and Lt. Gov of Montana.   Instead, Zinke will be raising money for this super-PAC via the no-fail method of selling water bottles online.  Stylish men’s sleeveless t-shirts like this one are also on offer, which you’ll want to order now before the TEA Partiers buy them all up.

Zinke’s entire email is pasted below:
Gentleman,
I am pleased to announce the stand-up of Special Operations for America (SOFA) and the soforamerica.org website. SOFA is a super Political Action Committee (PAC) with a simple mission:  Defeat the Obama train wreck by leveraging various Special Operations organizations and military members in the key battleground states.  As you know, the military is not politically monolithic and it is critical that all active and prior serviceman are both informed and energized.  SOFA will be the voice of the Special Operations community by providing well researched and documented media presentations that expose the truth about the state of our military and related National Security interests.  We are all in this fight together and with your help, we shall prevail.  Please pass the website to all.  An electronic copy of the SOFA organization and specific objectives is available upon request.
Keep your Powder Dry and your Aim True,

Senator Ryan Zinke Chairman
Special Operations for Americahttp://soforamerica.org/

Essmann is running his dads dry cleaning business into the ground, Fanning is changing his match.con profile, Ken Miller is plotting a 3rd party write- in effort, and jim lynch, who cares.

Senator Zinke served our country for 23 years as a Navy SEAL. He should be applauded not poked at for this initiative. Zinke is a leader and i suspect that Hill would not be the nominee if Zinke had run on top of the ticket.

    • James Conner

A leader would have run at the top of the ticket. Zinke chose to run at the bottom. Now he’s running a water bottle PAC. What’s next? Sealing notes in bottles?

    • Norma Duffy (@Ilikewoods)

No One is Questioning his Service Scott, we are questing Zinke himself, and his Motives. Serving this country doesn’t absolve people when they get home, who decide to begin a life of criminal corporate intent against other Americans, and this state.

Honor for Country, and Community is a daily exercise, I believe ZInke and his Buddy’s do not Practice that anymore…. Further, There are a lot of Doctors and Nurses, Firefighters and Police, teachers and state workers, who do honor every day without having to go to war to prove that. That’s the part of Government Zinke and his Party wants to do away with.

    • Larry Kralj, Environmental Rangers

Yeah, that’s it, Scott. The freakin’ MILITARY should be running the government! You see, we should give EVERY FREAKIN’ GUBMINT DEPARTMENT a MILITARY-sized budget! In other words, UNLIMITED! Then, we might finally have full employment, health benefits for all, and retirement for all! Just think about it for a moment, Scott! (I know it’s painful to think, but take one for the team, the barking SEAL team!)

I think that zinke is on to something here! Unlimited bugets. Secret budgets for all!, farming out all KINDS of work to every podunk contractor OUT there! It’s a great place to start! We’ll take every GI Jane, GI Joe wannabee, Gomer Pyle, and Forrest Gump OUT there and make them productive citizens, jus like zinke! Full employment! Full retirement! Full health benefits. FULL OF SHIT!

Zinke is simply full of shit! He’s got nuthin’ cept fascism. He belongs to oath keepers, which is kinda like the ol’ promise keepers, a whole bunch’a reetawrd males strokin’ each others egos for god! Pretty sad when you think about it!

    • Jermoe

Screw you Scott, I know a couple of ex SEALs and they are raving lunatics and drunks screaming TEA party crap and drawing a pension from the Navy not realizing that someone has to pay taxes to support their dumb asses so they can rant about the heavy tax burden. By the way Scott have you ever wore the uniform? I was in Vietnam in 1969 I don’t recall you being there Scottie!

  3. Paul S.

Well, Zinke is not a very smart “leader” since he chose to run with Livingstone. So, there is that.

  4. Rob Kailey

Isn’t that special. Their ‘home page’ is their blog. So, it’s nothing more than a wargarblerr blog that wants money to bash the President and his administration. How that’s supposed to be any different than most other wargarblerr dinosaurs on the internet, I have no idea.

I also notice that they use service emblems (not the official seals, of course), but even those are protected from unauthorized use. I wonder if they have that authorization …

    • Jennifer Davies

Wait he really has a blog? Oh my. Somehow when he wrote “super-PAC” I thought Zinke meant a multi-million dollar political action committee. This is really sad.

He should link up with Tom Burnett’s blog in Bozeman and they should share their views on making poor kids starve to fund the military industrial complex.

      • Larry Kralj, Environmental Rangers

Not to worry. Jimmy strauss balls (like mouse balls only smaller) of the GF Spitoon does a great job of allowing the “military perspective” from one Col. Klink V. Dumbschmit! Vee must haf zee military perspective! SEIG HEIL!

Funny that the dipshit strauss doesn’t allow a LABOR perspective though. What a good corporate dink!

“Essmann is running his dads dry cleaning business into the ground”

Essman sold ou the dry cleaning empire 6 years ago. He’s just a slum lord now.

  6. Joel Arends

We need a boots on the ground perspective to inform the national security discussion and policy formulation in America – SOFA is going to provide a combination of first hand experience tempered with the wisdom of experienced policy makers that Ryan and his team have assembled.

Engaging in the campaign is the right, and frankly the duty, of those who have served and feel compelled to inform the public policy debate and in the election.

Ryan Zinke’s service and experience is going to be a great addition to the public dialogue regarding the use of special operations and timely given that this White House has been leaking highly classified national security information regarding special operations mission. Ryan’s perspective will give us a no-BS analysis of what dangers the White House leaks pose to our operators on the ground, their families and to mission accomplishment.

    Go Zinke!

    • Larry Kralj, Environmental Rangers

  7. Norma Duffy (@Ilikewoods)

And that is a load of Bull Pucky if I ever heard it. The one thing the Military service has considerably done horribly over the last couple of wars is “Nation Build.”

What are you gonna do Joel, pay one community leader to fink on the other as the Military has done in Afghanistan? Where tribal leaders continually use the U.S. army to wack their competition. You gonna give guns to people who promise to be you sympathizers one day, while they kill you the next with our own bullets? Really? Cuz that’s what Zinke and the rest of the Army did in Afghanistan, Iran, and Bosnia as well. Make the laws as you go along!

We have a lot of good moral Laws in Place and enough good civic servants to discuss and Implement ways on how the government can move forward in this country for years to come, Boots on the ground from ex ops whose jobs it was to pay off tribal leaders to join our cause isn’t good civilian centered Business!

  8. Scott

Seems like you all have the answers. A lot of intelligence gathered in this site. So here is a question for you – Why is Montana nearly at the bottom (47th?) in terms of jobs, and economic prosperity.

    • Larry Kralj, Environmental Rangers

Why do you LIVE here, dufus? There’s plenty of jobs out there SOMEwheres! We need to find every loser a job now??? Sheesh. Take a look in the mirror, loser. Maybe there’s a REASON that you don’t have a job!

      • Larry Kralj, Environmental Rangers

Simple, James. With dry powder, we could’a SHOT out way to prosperity! bwhahahahahahahaha!
Keep your powder dry, your aim true, and never shit in your OWN helmet! Makes the c-rats taste like Turkish blend tobacco when you’re cookin’!
        bwhahahahhahahaaaa!
Sorry, but I had a buddy in the military that would threaten to stick a cigarette up his behind before lending them out. He said it gave them that special Turkish blend flavor!

    • Norma Duffy (@Ilikewoods)

Its a agricultural state Scott, and we are damn proud of that. What your trying to do with others like Zinke is Use this state as Americans Corporate Garbage can. Thats not gonna happen without Montanans consent. Montana has a lower rate of unemployment, then the nation does

      Nation:8.2%
      Montana: 6.3%

      • Paul S.

Meanwhile, Scott is just trying to distract us from the fact that he has failed to back up his own claim.

        • Kenneth Kailey

How is Scott trying to distract anyone? He hasn’t replied the three or four people that have taken shots at him. In fact, he hasn’t replied to this thread at all.

I would posit that you are attempting to distract the conversation from the simple question he asked.

    • Kenneth Kailey

While you are all taking shots at Scott, you fail to address the very real concerns he has. While Montana has less active unemployment than the national average, Scott is absolutely right.. We are ranked 47th in the country. The reasons are varied but the two largest reasons are 1) The largest employer in Montana is the Government and that sector of employment has taken some serious hits in the last three years and 2) while we are an agricultural state, that industry is also on a downturn. Yes, there were new jobs created in 2011, but they weren’t in agriculture. We were one of seven states in 2011 that the economy of the state actually shrank.

I have posted the links to both of these things here multiple times so I won’t bother to do so again. I have no idea who Scott is or what his ideology is, but his question was valid and went unanswered.

I have done my best to answer the question but it simply brings up more questions – the primary being what the hell are we are going to do about it?

        • Kenneth Kailey

Paul, you are trying to tell me that Walmart employs more people than the local, state and Federal Government in Montana? I think you need to do some fact checking before you post that…

        • Norma Duffy (@Ilikewoods)

Possibly as a private employer, but the state and feds are the biggest employers in the state, Kenneth is right about that.

What do we do, to promote jobs? My Opinion is update houses and businesses to be green energy efficient is one way. 220,000 jobs can be had for every 1.6 million structures updated. since we have an approximation of 30,000 workers out of a job right now in Montana, and our university system is now finally putting the Finishing touches on new classes in that field…lets get as many re-trained as possible, and keep the work right here. I suggest with all the wind and sun this state gets, plus an enormous amount of hot springs…. we jump on the bandwagon of renewable energy. Sheeze they are making Windmills now that pull clean water from the air with condensation, as well, as produce energy.

We already have the raw elements for solar manufacture. Oregon Washington and California are shutting down the very last of their coal burning plants in the next 5 years. Our coal is going to China folks.

I say we let them process that over there and start a time table on PPL to stop making coke here and ruining our air and water. Before we end up like Virginia where they cant fish in Most of their rivers and lakes.

Its a plan, while we keep a eye on how weather is gonna be affecting our crops. I think we are gonna need help this year with low fed Loans to keep our family farms running. the heat and the late freezes took their toll as well as flooding last year.

I would like to see something tangible like this start, while we have a sparse population compared to other states, and yes we are gonna need fed cash to jump start it all.

          • Norma Duffy (@Ilikewoods)

One in four jobs in Montana directly attributable to government services of the feds and state. I know thats a fact from the census. Walmart might be the biggest single employer, but most people work in a business that hires 25 or less employees!

Freedom is not free and negotiating our ability to fight to defend ourselves is just one of the many topics that Special Operations for America (SOFA) soforamerica.org discusses. Our advisory board consists of former military and business leaders who have proven themselves on the battle field and in creating jobs at home. The military is not a monolithic voting block in that there are both R’s and D’s within the ranks. SOFA’s commentary is always respectful to the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief. Like Cowgirl, we encourage an open and lively dialogue based on facts. Well researched comments are always accepted. PS. The Chairman position is non paid and yes, you can order a T-Shirt and be the first on the block to show your colors. all the best, Ryan

    • Larry Kralj, Environmental Rangers

Respectful? Well OK, then. Please answer a couple of questions.

      1. Just what the hell do you MEAN when in the headline to your blog you state that you want to “take the country back”? That’s just plainassed stoopid. Take it back to where? Take it back from whom? Platitudes indicate a weak mind. (freedumb ain’t free? Hey, how bout “if you don’t stand for sumthin’, you’ll fall for anything”! Let’s play twenty dumb platitudes that mean nothing, shall we?)

      2. What the hell does the military have to show the country? Again, with an unlimited, obscene, secret budget, the military has had NO successes since WW II. NONE! If you know of any, please list them. (Vietnam? Afghanistan? Iraq? Where?) And while you’re at it, name ANY department in the government that with the military’s budget would NOT be succesful! You see, there is NOTHING to be learned from the military or its admirers. We done been down that road, and it’s a dead end. You’ve got nothing except t-shirts and dumb slogans. Is that really contributing anything at all to the conversation? How?

Join in the discussion. I promise to be respectful. For you see, I do admire military service. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of brave, valiant young people in this country who are not hesitant to go fight for nothing except their buddies, a paycheck, and their own personal sense of duty. Been there, done that. It’s a tragedy of being young in America.

I do NOT admire the dumbassed politicians who send our young people off to die in senseless wars that bankrupt our country and enrich the nazis who send them off!

And p.s. The “military” nearly ended the war in 1962 when the ENTIRE JOINT CHEIFS OF STAFF wanted a pre-emptive war against the Soviet Union. They figured that such a war was winnable, and that it would ONLY result in approxmately thirty million Americans dead in a nuclear exchange. I know that you’re kinda young, zinke, but the military is EVIL! And still out there! There are NO military solutions to anything any longer! And we could have used ALL that money wasted on the military to actually HELP this country.

      You’ve got nothing.

      • Larry Kralj, Environmental Rangers

Oops. Should read that the military “nearly ended the world”, not war. They wanted SO badly to destroy the planet with nuclear weapons. The ONLY thing that prevented them from doing so was Kennedy. Somehow, he managed to prevent them from carrying out their evil machinations. And as result, they CIA/military industrial complex did everything they could to destroy him! Finally, they assassinated him! THAT is your vaunted military, zinke! And it’s still outta control! The Defense Dept. now makes foreign policy. Real convenient, huh?

When you wake up in the morning and enjoy a peaceful America, remember that we most likely would not BE here if not for the courage of one man and one man alone who sacrificed himself for all of us! (Well, Bobby too really.) The perps walked, and they’re still out there. They still exist in the military/industrial complex that Ike warned us about. If you truly want freedom, well then, start by helping to destroy the CIA/Military industrial complex into a thousand pieces like Kennedy wanted to do! I’ll even join that movement!

If the Teatards want to really be angry, they need to go after the right target. Be ANGRY AS HELL that our country and future was STOLEN from us by Allen Dulles and the CIA! And absolutely EVERY foreign entanglement since then has been their doing! So yeah, I too want my country back! I want it back to 1963, and to HELL with the CIA!

    • larry kurtz

that i can legally walk into nearly any Montana institution with a pistol, concealed or not, but be arrested for carrying ten grams of cannabis is absurd, prima facie.

Montana: change your constitution to make the state a cannabis-friendly zone; it will make your sidearm and xenophobes like Zinke non sequitur.

Go say hi to lizard, Ryan.

      • Larry Kralj, Environmental Rangers

lizard is such a child. He writes like the average American who knows NOTHING about the CIA’S role in bringing German nazis to the Americas to do evil with the help of ALL the repubbie American presidents since WW II. It’s all out there for those who just a modicum of research. Start with Marin A. Lee’s book, The Beast Reawakens. But the net has tons of stuff too. There’s a REASON why there arose so many nazi dictators in Latin America. They were FOSTERED by german nazis ratlined to the Americas by the CIA. All true. Check it out.

I’ll leave this comment here because the BBirds have made it fairly clear that they don’t want comments that don’t agree, and salient or not absolutely none by me.

A hard and fast rule of punditry should be this: If you phrase your headline as a question, the answer is always “No”. Weed did not “cure” the Gaede twins of anything. Living did. I first posted about Prussian Blue 8 years ago. Even then, I saw them as exploited kids who were in for a rude life awakening. It’s ridiculous in the extreme to claim that they were ‘cured’ of a personality disorder by a drug when a) their personalities weren’t even at the pubescent stage of development, b) the very ailments which handed green cards are the very kinds of trauma that most of us find personality changing in formative years, and c) there is no evidence that they were actually “cured” of anything save singing Hitler Youth praises, and d) a case could be made that moving them to Montana was every bit the curative that pot was. The mountain west environment is life altering, as you yourself, Larry, advocate at all times.

Lizard is only riding his hobby-horse again, that drugs really *free* the mind. No, they don’t. They alter thinking, sometimes long term, sometimes not, sometimes for the better, and many times not. The only that can be said almost universally about drugs is that they contribute to the bottom line of Pizza Hut, Frito Lay and Taco Bell.

As side note to Mr. Zinke, no, freedom isn’t free. It costs a buck’o'five. A great American movie taught me that …

        • larry kurtz

Why do you and LK have to be so literal, Rob? Kiazi’s children, their faces wet. Darmok on the ocean.

          • Rob Kailey

Larry, I wasn’t being literal. Please remember that I was replying to a post that you linked, and not actually to you.

If I had replied to you literally, it would be only this. Making Montana a cannabis-friendly zone would not remove sidearms or xenophobia, any more than it has in Alaska.

My reply was aimed at Lizard. The message is simple. Darmok and Jalad at Tenagra.

            • larry kurtz

Good eye, to be clear: it’s likely I won’t be walking armed into any Montana institution any time soon.

    • Jermoe L.

Hey Zinke I think they held you under water much to long you have never solved any thing as a SEAL. You are B.S.period oxygen depravation has ruined your thought processes, so shove it. When I was in Vietnam where were you? Playing footsie with Mitt?
