New Ad: With Rehberg in Washington It’s Open Season on Montana
The Montana Hunters and Anglers have a new ad up this week. The ad says “with Dennis Rehberg in Washington it’s open season on Montana.”
In the Lee Newspapers report on the ad, Rehberg tried to run from key provisions of his bill, H.R. 1505, which would hand over control of Montana land within 100 miles of the Canadian border to the Department of Homeland Security.
A Rehberg staffer tried to claim that Rehberg had added language to the bill to make sure that the Department couldn’t restrict hunting. However, the bill specifically provides the authority to Homeland Security to close roads–which would obviously allow them to block hunters and anglers from Montana public lands.
Here’s the ad:

As many of you know, in recent months my opponent has spread the rumors that 1.) My bill blocks hunters and anglers from hunting and fishing on public lands and 2.) That I have refused to admit that it does so. These two rumors, while true, have made me look very bad. So I thought I would take this opportunity to explain myself in terms even a poor person could understand.
Let’s say you met the love of your life. Let’s say you promised her that you intended to protect her, cherish her, and always keep her safe from Mexicans and hippies. And then let’s say somebody went and told you that you couldn’t ban Mexicans and hippies from the North American continent-or even America or Montana. If you’re even half the man I am, you’d say, “Fuck you America!”
Well, in my case, the love of my life is Exxon Mobile. (If you don’t believe me, ask my wife.) And public lands are my true loves desire. If you think I should make my true love share with the hippie Mexican public, then I’m sorry, my friend, but you don’t believe in love. I’m a fucking Congressman. It’s the least I can do for my beloved. Don’t ask what I got in return. (wink)
In conclusion: if blocking the hippie Mexican public from their own public land is wrong, I don’t want to be right. I did it all for love. And as your U.S. Senator, I promise I will never, ever come between you and the thing you love. Unless you’re gay. (Laughing Out Loud.)
Insincerely Yours,
Your Congressman
Thank you. I needed that. That was damn funny!
And just who supports MT Hunters and Anglers? From the Gazette.
“As a 501(c) (4) educational group, Montana Hunters and Anglers Action is not required to reveal its financial donors. Tawney said the donors have asked not to be identified, but that they include individuals and organizations.

Which means hardly and money comes from Montanans.
It means nothing of the sort, Swede. Not having an answer to question does not mean that you can just assume any answer you want.
Really, remember “Montanans for Tester”?
Hardly any Montanans there. http://fec-individuals.findthedata.org/search/FilerIndentificationNumber/C00412304
WTF? Another complete non-sequitor? You really don’t understand English at all, do you? I repeat:
Not having an answer to question does not mean that you can just assume any answer you want.
What’s the name of the organization behind the new ad, Dumb shit. MONTANA HUNTERS AND ANGLERS!
They aren’t Montanans. With a few exception of their leadership they don’t hunt or fish. They’re from NY and LA judging by past practices.
You have no evidence of that at all, dumbass. You have an assumption you can’t prove based on an unrelated organization.
And just for the record, cupcake, there are one holy helluva lot of hunters in both NY and LA, arguably more than here in Montana. ‘Way to insult them, jackass.
Oh they’re related. They both lie and/or hide their membership/contributors.
Individual donations can come from anywhere in the world as long as its an American for A US congressman or senators race. And at least Tester uses transparency Cant find any money for Rehberg, but I forgot he likes dealing in the dark, and wont support the disclosure ACT!
What a group: http://lobowatch.wordpress.com/2011/11/14/new-montana-sportsmens-organization-may-not-be-exactly-what-they-claim/
According to Biggy Jo’s link the ad cost between 200000 to 250000. Doesn’t sound like it’s something Montana sportsman would waste their money on since this political nonsense stems from Tester’s political operatives for political, not sportsman purposes.
So Your down to just others Opinions for your sources….. Pathetic!
Funny. Fools like you think that Montana sport shooters are the primary funding for Gary Marbut’s happy lifestyle. Craig, meet petard.
Rob, when you have to invent what I think and attack me with such specious nonsense, your pockets are turned out and makes you look quite foolish.
I went to opensecrets.org and tried to find this group. Funny how they slipped through the cracks but yet they come up with a quarter million of cash for an ad buy that’s all about politics and nothing about real sportsmens’ issues.
Quit with the lie. I did no such thing. You blather about how people with Montana ties aren’t ‘Montana enough’ for you just because they have ties to the Montana Democratic party. Your bogus assumption is clear. If it has ties to Democrats, it isn’t ‘Montana’. Do you know anything about the history of this state? Or is your primary interest spewing Ad Hominem against those who don’t agree with you? The latter is clear. The former, not so much.
And how can you possibly think anyone stupid enough to buy into this line of bullshit:
Handing 100 miles of border reach to Homeland security is exactly an issue for Montana sportsmen. That you don’t get that proves unequivocally that you really don’t get that, that you care more about Rehberg than you do the rights of Montanans. Are you a Montanan, Craig? I’m certain that the the Rehbergites want to know … I have yet to see you, even once, cry foul on those organizations that task Tester, but you are Johnny on the spot when squeaking about how Rehberg/right wing/Conservative support is fair and just. Screw you, Craig. Rehberg is handing control of 100 miles adjacent to the Montana border over to the bastards which gave us body scanners and grope-downs. And you are pathetic enough to whine about where Tester gets campaign support when stupidly blind to where your favored orgs get their money.
Most left wing websites have promoted the idea that PAC donors have to declare. The law doesn’t support that any more. That was a Republican ideal. And you stupidly task me with the support you don’t favor not showing on ‘opensecrets_dot_org’. Yeah well, fuck you, hypocrite. When Denny’s PAC support appears on that website, you might have an argument. Until then, you are insulting those who actually see with clarity your own hypocrisy.
You support the Citizen’s United decision by the SCOTUS. You think the rest of us too stupid to see your support. We’re not, kitten. Try again.
“The DISCLOSE Act has failed twice to garner a filibuster-proof 60 votes, once in July 2010 and again that September. The second time Senate Democrats brought the bill to the floor, sources indicated it was mostly because leaders had a few legislative days to burn, so they figured they could message the issue before moving on again. It is very unlikely Democrats would be able to peel away enough Senate GOP votes to approve the bill, and even if they could, it is almost certain to hit a wall in the Republican-led House.”

…and by the way, when George Cooper was leading the TRCP, he and I exchanged e-mails as I was a member. I have nothing against him. High Country news has this: http://www.hcn.org/issues/44.9/secretly-funded-montana-sportsmen-dive-into-political-fray/article_view?b_start:int=1&-C=
Funny how HCN leads off with “secretly funded.” No surprise that Tester’s political ops are connected with that lack of transparency.
Jon supports, Denny says he supports but voted against

http://missoulian.com/article_46205d68-c97c-11e1-ac8f-0019bb2963f4.html
Soory Craig but the Kettle calling the Pot Black doesn’t favor you! The GOP for years have tried to have secret funding and now that you legally get to do it for a time………You cry cause the Democrats are arming with the same weapons. Yep Its a sad day when the little kid found out there are more marbles out in the USA then what the GOP had in their pocket.
Let me tell you what is gonna happen buddy boy since you allowed the Citizens United cat out of the bag.
First of all, it is well known that Ron Paul might have the votes to unseat your king in your little Florida hoedown this fall. See your mittens still has to be crowned down there and a lot of folks on your side of the Isle dont like Mittens.
Secondly if Paul wins, or there’s a fight at all at that convention, all bets are off for you republicans, cuz you will disfranchise enuff of your voters to see them vote for the other side in all races just for spite. It might be amusing to watch the teapublicans you created bite you in the arse!
You seem to imply that Montanans don’t support preserving hiring and fishing areas. Put down the bong,
Preservig Hunting, I meant to type. Apologies for the error.
I don’t think Denny wants to close roads through this bill. Rather, this bill will allow the Department of Homeland Security to build roads in previously roadless areas (wilderness, national parks, monuments, etc.) in order to catch hippies with backpacks loaded with BC Thunderfuck. These roads will then someday be used by your average Montanan on ATVs to road hunt and swill barley pops.
Brilliant, Congressman….pure brilliance.
I hoping that we get a spear hunting bill passed next go around.
Cause according to the UN and King Putt that’s what we’ll be using.
“UNITED NATIONS – A treaty being hammered out this month at the United Nations — with Iran playing a key role — could expose the records of America’s gun owners to foreign governments — and, critics warn, eventually put the Second Amendment on global trial.
International talks in New York are going on throughout July on the final wording of the so-called Arms Trade Treaty, which supporters such as Amnesty International USA say would rein in unregulated weapons that kill an estimated 1,500 people daily around the world. But critics, including the National Rifle Association’s Wayne LaPierre, warn the treaty would mark a major step toward the eventual erosion of the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment gun-ownership rights.”

Your were told to put down the Bong Swede, Keep this up and your gonna need intervention. Fox news, and the NRA are lying through their teeth as usual.
If your Talking about 64/48. The arms trade treaty Recalling its resolutions 46/36 L of 9 December 1991, 51/45 N of
10 December 1996, 51/47 B of 10 December 1996, 56/24 V of 24 December 2001,
60/69 and 60/82 of 8 December 2005, 61/89 of 6 December 2006 and 63/240 of
24 December 2008…. Dah gee Swede it is basically the same thing that has been floating around since 1991. You have been living with it for years.
Betcha your Arms control Fantasy written by the Fox network with the help of idiots in the NRA wont tell you what it really says, which is nothing it hasn’t said before.
article 51 of the UN charter reads like our second Amendment : “Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security. Measures taken by Members in the exercise of this right of self-defence shall be immediately reported to the Security Council and shall not in any way affect the authority and responsibility of the Security Council under the present Charter to take at any time such action as it deems necessary in order to maintain or restore international peace and security.”
We are a UN Country therefore our second amendment rights do not get interfered with!
The Arms control treaty is to stop illegal gun trading, yet it explicitly mentions our rights in: security:
Acknowledging the right of all States to manufacture, import, export, transfer
and retain conventional arms for self-defence and security needs and in order to participate in peace support operations.

Geez, Read the damn stuff and grow a pair.Stop Watching FOX, and listening to the Nutcases now running NRA! We are fine.
So take the civilian arms and ammunition language out. Seems like a simple request.
A ton of Dems are NRA supporters. You want to piss them off?
Quote: On that score, LaPierre, who serves as NRA executive vice president, warns that the “UN’s refusal” to remove civilian firearms and ammunition from the scope of the treaty amounts to a declaration that only governments should be gun owners.
But he revealed he was set Wednesday to tell the UN gathering that 58 U.S. senators had signed a letter saying that they would refuse to ratify any treaty that includes controls over civilian guns or ammunition.
Then what the frack are you worried about, idiot?
My night scope doesn’t pick up blue helmets.
This one is for YOU, Ingy! Wacth the entire thing. You’ll love it! THAT’S MY AMERICA! WE BE BACK! (no need for zinke to take it back, we already there, dude!)
http://www.iviewtube.com/v/182929/president-obama-death-of-osama-bin-laden-(spoof-parody)
Look I an for second amendment rights! and when the NRA and FOX Lies about this. I am gonna call it out. I took the NRA test for their endorsement, and only got two things wrong as far as they were concerned…. you wanta know what they were:
Both Questions had to do with Gun rights over another persons Private property rights. The NRA Believes gun rights trump another’s Private property rights! So if you had a gun in your pocket, and you were about to enter my property… and I told you… you cannot carry a gun on my property…. The NRA says you dont have to listen to me, So guess what, with the stand your ground laws in this state, I might have to shoot you to protect my property rights.
Hell thats the same as saying a crook could come on my property and try and rob me at gunpoint, and who ever shoots first( and it will be me protecting my property) wins! Dont you see they dont care about peoples property rights! They dont care if one person has to shoot another to protect a property right!
Lets go a step further, I am a company guy and I hire you to work for me. I have armed guards for your protection, so I don’t need untrained personal running around with a loaded gun in their pocket while they are working, or your gun, left in your car on my property during working hours.
A) you can keep you gun in your car or on your person and not work for me, and be nowhere near my property.
B) You can follow NRA Rules and disregard mine. which will get you thrown in Jail, fired and possibly shot also. and since you have endangered other employees who work for me, you can get them hurt also. Do you think what the NRA is proposing is fair. I don’t.
I believe in property rights with all my heart.
If Ingy’s dumb enough to listen to Fox she/he probably donated to Rand Paul
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/02/02/141944/rand-paul-gun-conspiracy/
It’s ok with Ingy if Americans for Prosperity or Crossroads GPS runs ads just not any one else
“Within the past month, Crossroads GPS and Americans for Prosperity – two groups opposing Tester and other Democratic U.S. Senate candidates across the country – spent about $600,000 on TV ads in Montana, saying Tester is a rubber stamp for President Barack Obama.”
http://ravallirepublic.com/elections_2012/congress/us_senate/article_7c937d65-d8e5-53a5-b7be-a7e683d86555.html
Let’s compare. If Denny or his party formed a group called Montanans for Prosperity or Montana Crossroads and these organizations were funded mostly by out-of-staters you guys would be screaming bloody murder.
They don’t have to, those groups are all ready supporting him(Rehberg) and buying ads. That’s what the Supreme Court case was about. Wake up Ingy or sober up, which ever fits
For Ingy so you can get up to speed on what’s being done about money in politics in Montana
http://truth-out.org/news/item/10237-a-prophet-crying-in-the-wilderness-montanas-governor-vows-to-continue-his-fight-against-citizens-united
Laffin here.
Thanks, Cowgirl for putting this up, and thanks Craig for the HCN link. Didn’t know MWA’s Gabe Furshong was writing for HCN, he sure told the truth.
As for the big ad campaing, reporter Dennison needs to get with the program and actually REPORT this stuff.
FEC records are available: PAC is C00493262 unregistered PAC, treasurer is teacher Beau Wright in Lewistown; only donors of record so far are conservationist Phil Tawney’s widow Robin (Nichols), son Land, daughter Whitney (who works for Ducks Unlimited, and radical eco-lawyer Jack Tuholske. Donations listed total a bit over 6,000.
That was filed in April, FEC should have another report by the end of this month posted to FEC’s web page. I guess we’ll find out if Dennison will dredge that up and actually report who is bankrolling the 350 grand. Or at least which PAC did so. So much for NWF (Land Tawney) actually being nonpartisan.
Mike Dennison is on WBUR’s Here and Now talking about wolves. It will air later on YPR.
