At Congressman Rehberg’s public hearing over a plastic statue of Jesus, one woman showed up to ask the Congressman the question on everyone’s mind. Joan Ehrenberg, a solid liberal activist in Whitefish, rose and, as a reporter describes it,
said she felt other issues, like jobs creation and health care, were more pressing than the statue.
“I’m curious why this is taking up so much of your time. I don’t understand how this is an issue for our taxpayer dollars,” she asked.
As the Missoulian reports, Rehberg responded that the plastic Jesus was important. But as I’ve often said, he is a giant dunce. He said to Ms. Ehrenberg–get this– that her “very presence at the town hall proves that this is an important issue.”
Um, Congressman, the woman came to the hearing tell you that it is not an important issue. You are spending your taxpayer dollars to create a controversy that doesn’t exist. The Forrest Service has already decided to let the statue stay.
