Dueling Imbeciles

Todd Akin

Missouri GOP Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin is being pressured to drop out of the race after he said in a television interview this weekend that rape victims who are actually raped (as opposed to making it up he presumably means) rarely actually get pregnant:

“From what I understand from doctors … if it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

With Akin, we have an imbecile who uses the phrase “legitimate rape” to mean if women really are raped–and not lying–they can can “shut down” the pregnancy.  He means legitimate reports of rapes.  Then, the next dim bulb comes along and says “there’s no such thing as legitimate rape.”

Montana Congressman Dennis Rehberg clearly missed the point of why Akin’s comment was so offensive. Rehberg said in a statement:

“As a pro-life conservative, a husband, and a father of two young women, I find Representative Akin’s remarks to be offensive and reprehensible. There is no such thing as a ‘legitimate rape.’ I condemn Representative Akin’s statements in the strongest possible terms.”

I think the bigger, deeper story here (the fact that an idiot is running for senate on the GOP ticket is, after all, not really news) is that it is almost impossible to hold an internally consistent view on abortion. Either you oppose it in all cases, including rape, or you are fine with it right up until the minute before breach, or you are somewhere in between, and you accept some internal inconsistencies in favor of letting your opinion agree with observed reality.

Akin is another Republican who flunked biology. The fools who elected him to Congress flunked civics. Makes me wonder whether letting his Congressional district secede from the union would be in the national interest.

HOLEEEEEE SHIT! And Holy Saint Todd! I can see that CEEment JAYsus has not spoken to your heathen hearts! And that’s real sad.

You see, CEEment JAYsus HAS spoken to Dopey Reeburp and St. Todd, and he tol’em that if’n they DON’T change the law in order to make rape victims have the baby, then EVERY woman who wants an abortion is gonna say that she was raped! And THEN, you got a real can-o worms on your hands!

So, it may SEEM that Akin and Dopey are dumb as two bags-o dog shit, but they ain’t. They’re doin’ God’s will by eliminating the possibility of “illegitimate” rapes being classified as LEGITIMATE rapes! Get it now!

Women are tricky by nature, and the ONLY way to really keep them in line is to keep an eye on the “whole thing”, or as Akin might say, the “hole thing”! Akin KNOWS that godly men like himself and Dopey Reeburp should be in charge of the hole thing, not women. It’s the Pubbie way! Gotta shut the hole thing down! And that’s about as legit as it gits!

Republican Congressman Denny Rehberg continues to hold a modest lead over incumbent Jon Tester in Montana’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Montana Voters shows Rehberg with 47% support to Tester’s 43%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

Excuse me, but Rehberg is correct. There is no such thing as ‘legitimate’ rape, any more than there is a such a critter as ‘illegitimate’ rape. Rape is rape, not by ‘definition’ or any other contrivance. Against my better judgement, I’m giving Dennis the benefit of the doubt here.

A terrific Jezebel article presenting The Official Guide to Legitimate Rape. Just to be on the safe side, that article is probably not very safe for work.

Of course there is no such thing as legitimate rape. But that’s not what made Akin’s remarks so terrible.

The “legitimate” in Akin’s statement referred to the woman’s claim of being raped.

Akin said that if the rape were legitimate, the woman’s body shut’s down the pregnancy. He means that if sluts manufacture the rape charge, they could get pregnant. He means that anyone who is “legitimately raped” can’t get pregnant. Not that rape is legitimate.

Its incredible that there isn’t more attention being given to the fact that Rick Hill and Steve Daines are on record saying hey want to force women who are raped have the rapists baby!!

Akin refuses to surrender his nomination for the senate. He’s betting that all the Republicans who denounced his grasp of biology, said they were cutting off his money, and urged him to quit, will find a way to declare he has rehabilitated himself and once again deserves right wing money. He’ll become enough of a sinner come to Jesus for the GOP to both pray that he wins, and pony-up bucks. Akin may be dumb as a stump, but it turns out he’s tough as one, too.

So I guess what Akin and the others are saying is that if you were raped and became pregnant then you were not really raped but must have consented to it in some way. Or, if you had sex, say, with your husband to have children and you didn’t get pregnant then he must have raped you.

Mike, Mike, MIKE! Oh yee of so little faith. I can see by your writin’ that you are a hairy tick! You see, Mike, the godly men like Dopey and his pal Todd have alREADY introduced legislation to determine REAL rape, or actually FORCIBLE rape, or more exactly, legitimate rape from the pretenders!

Yep. Yesiree. Not a problem. You see, Mike, SOME women will actually lie to get an abortion. In other words, deceive. They are the deceivers, and the Bible warned us about them. Hence, we godlies vs. you non-godlies must have a way to determine which is which.

Hence, Dopey and Todd propose a leetle WATER test to determine who is telling the the truth and who isn’t!
It’s all very legal and all very scientific!

You see, the preggies are placed in a chair with their extremities bound so as not to influence God’s will. Then, they are lowered by godly mens INto the water. The floaters will get an abortion for they are telling the truth, and the sinkers are deceivers and must be punishED!

It’s scientific! And a good way to renew our country to its founding principles! HEY, the founders KNEW what God wanted. And it’s simply so simple. Kinda strange that we didn’t figure this out long ago!

Hope this helps, Mike. And get thee to a nunnery, dude! You obviously need some bible larnin’!

The GOP are completely scientific and logical evidence oriented. Or so that’s what the fools on those interim committees are always shrieking about –and I might add some Democrats.’

Look at the latest Children and Families committee debacle where Mary Caferro (Public Affairs Director for Aware group homes) voted with Republicans for her own bill to close a facility for those with mental illness and intellectual disabilities. Presumably Aware would get the contracts. (Conflict??) Perhaps these fools would just give the patients Groupons. Perhaps these fools like Wittich and Caferro were thinking of the millions that could be cut from the budget if we just eliminate empathy.
