Bought and Paid For

With the insurance and tobacco industries’ most recent attempt to buy the Montana Attorney General race, the latest Tester ad couldn’t be more timely.  Here’s the ad:

Craig, are you still going on about Tester? Give it a rest, man. He never agreed not to take money from Corporations.. he simply promised to attempt to stem the tide of Corporations buying elections – a promise he has kept. Tester is still the man we elected six years ago – a hard working Montana Organic farmer who wanted to actually represent the people of Montana instead of the rich 1%. He has done more for Veterans than any other Senator in Montana history and the more you rag on the donations he has accepted, the more you prove that Tester is far less likely to be corrupted by those donations than someone like Rehberg. Rehberg, himself, said he wished he had become a lobbiest instead of a representative. I say, let’s retire that idiot and let him get his wish.

Tester is going to win this election because I honestly believe that the majority of Montanans are smart enough to know who will represent them better – unlike you, Craig.

Unlike you Kenneth I can read the caption of Tester’s ad: “Big Corporations Bought Our Politicians. “

BTW, I hope you are right about Montanans knowing who will represent them better. Today we are treated to the news that the Billings power station will be mothballed due to the cost of complying with EPA’s new regulations. Travis Kavulla has the story: http://electriccityweblog.com/?p=15653

With the handwriting on the wall that this would happen, Tester voted to uphold these regulations and put dozens of Montanans out of work.

Jobs cleaning up the mess will go beyond the site’s utility, Craig: the Army Corps of Engineers is holding states accountable for levels in the main stem dams after nearly a century of toxic-laden silt produced in part by this plant.

I read the caption, Craig, and I agree that corporations have purchased politicians before and will continue to do so as long as we operate by the fiction that Corporations are people.

Further, it isn’t Tester that is putting the Billings Power Plant out of business. It is their failure to comply with regulations meant to keep our state clean and livable. Are you honestly supporting the idea that Corporations and Companies should be allowed to pollute and damage our state with impunity?

Craig. The point I was making is that everyone is accepting this money. I didn’t realize I was trying to make a point with the pointless. mea culpa

I think President Obama has a better chance of winning Utah’s electoral votes than Rehberg does beating Tester.
