GOP Chair Behind Racist ‘Watermelon Trap for Obama’ Post Won’t Seek Re-Election

Says She’s Been Thinking About Resigning for Months to “Spend More Time With Boyfriend”

by Cowgirl

The Billings Gazette is reporting today that the Chair of Montana’s largest GOP county group won’t seek re-election and is instead “looking forward to spending some time with my wonderful boyfriend.”

Jennifer Olsen, the Billings GOP Chair, was caught posting a photo of a device designed to trap president Obama by luring him with a watermelon in February.

Olsen at first refused to comment on the post.  She kept mum while allowing the GOP to release an idiotic statement on her behalf, defending her on grounds that “none of Olsen’s 1,000 or so Facebook friends have corroborated” that they ever received the posting, and that the possibility thus exists that Olsen “may have been hacked.”

Later, Olsen issued a garbled statement accusing the Montanafesto blog author (a woman with an impeccable reputation who posted a screenshot of Olsen’s Facebook page which clearly showed that Olsen posted the photo) of faking the screenshot.

But the shoe finally dropped for Olsen when a young conservative who was friends with the Chair on Facebook came forward and told reporters at the Billings Outpost that he received Olsen’s racist Facebook post in his news feed. He even took a screenshot of the incident.

Olsen told the Gazette that she will “remain a politically active Republican.”

Great work by Montanafesto. If the Republican Party is ever to have a chance to regain some of its former glory and dignity, it will take great effort on the part of folks like Nicole. If I ever get down Red Lodge way again, I’d love to buy her a beer at Natalies! She’s good people!

Ah, thanks, Larry. Let me know if you are in the area and I will try to be there too. Unfortunately I currently work 420 miles from Red Lodge, but I try to get down there a couple of weekends each month.

Now THIS is just plainassed f*cking CRAZY! Yes, I think that we need the pedophilia wing of the Holy Roman Kiddy Diddlers along with Wendy Wharpedburpin’ to HEAD the Office of Bibble based BIRTH control! No NEED for Planned Parenthood any longer, just the BBBC, bibble based BIRTH control! You see, nuthin’ says holy like the DUGGER family!

And we really should have a guy like pat robertson in charge of something.

I give UP on this country! A country THIS frickin’ stoopid deserves to go under!

The Founders are rollin’ in their graves about now! They left us an inspired blueprint for democracy, which we turned into RED with alacrity, as in red state nonsense! Sad, so sad. The Talibeaners ain’t got nuthin’ on us! USA! USA! USA!

I won’t go there just yet. I still hold out hope – just not for the old white dudes who currently run things. Don’t forget about the young folks – things are going to turn around, but it won’t look familiar. The generation gap has never been wider. My dad found it unusual that he was treated by a woman surgeon (to his credit, he acquiesced). But it wouldn’t cross my son’s mind that her gender would have anything to do with her competence. Look for the rise of cooperatives, low-profit LLCs, and other unconventional (and more relational) ways of doing business.

Quit looking for Superman. You can write off the old duffers. Patriarchy is going the way of the tube TV and the fax machine. Democracy – real collaborative democracy – is where it’s at. And it won’t start in the Montana Legislature, however inspiring that might be; it will start in classrooms and workplaces. On farms, in families.

Don’t lose heart, Larry; it’s too hard when a firebrand like you drops out. Besides, explaining the excesses of patriarchy to the average person will require your special brand of tutoring.

Agreed. All revolution must come from the young. But unfortunately, as Chris Hedges articulates so well, the systems are no longer in place to effect change! The corporate fascists won……everything……..HANDILY! It’s game over for the old way of doing things. I pray to God that the young people will find a new way to take on the corporate fascist bastards. For its THEIR earth, their future, their time! I will fight the fascists to the day I die. I hate them that much! And if we lose this fight, it’s game over for the earth itself!
