GOP State Senator Convicted of Poaching, Gets Suspended Jail Sentence

He's the dog killer.Roger Webb, R-Billings

The Helena IR reported late yesterday that GOP Sen. Roger Webb was convicted of poaching, taking an extra trophy deer he didn’t have a tag for, on private property he didn’t have permission to hunt on no less.

Webb was fined and given a suspended 6 month jail sentence.

Both Roger Webb and his wife Peggy Webb are running for legislature in Billings.   Roger for SD 23, Peggy for HD 43. This isn’t his first encounter with the law.

  1. Oh, what a tangle Webb did weave,
When he asked not, “Permission, please.”

  2. I have to wonder why he wasn’t fined $8,000, which is clearly listed in the MT FWP Regs as the fine for illegally killing a ‘trophy’ deer, which it certainly appears to be what happened based on the record.

  3. Shooting a Whitetail from a county road in Stillwater County?
What time of Day? Did hunting companion (s) watch the road, assist in hasty field dress and/or quick Getaway? Other tagged deer in Vehicle?
Wondering how many adult hunters ticketed for shooting from public roads in Stillwater County last deer season!

I hope the voters of Yellowstone County toss this criminal out and stop his wife dead in her campaign dead in its tracks. These right wing nuts think they can do what they want with impunity and abuse the rest of us with their bs legislation.

  5. Webb’s always been self-righteous and arrogant..

  6. Legislature should IMPEACH this ‘POS’, as it went after Sen. Augere, clean house!

  7. One of the party of Gawd and morality turns out to be a black lab-murdering game-poaching lowlife dirtbag, what a huge surprise! I’m shocked! Shocked!

  8. What judge bent the law to give this criminal just a slap on the wrist?

    • That’s what I was wondering: Who was the presiding judge in this case? Friend? Republican?

Also, what’s this black lab-murdering reference? Did he kill his own dog? Another person’s dog?

Also, again, did I hear this right? Evel Knievel’s son (Evel, Jr., ?) was drunk driving in Butte, hit some other cars, and was a week or so ago given a differed sentence, which means if he doesn’t get into trouble again the charges are dropped and his driving record is wiped clean.

  9. Anyone who exhibits no respect for the law has no business making law.
    Period.

  10. I would certainly be asking WHO let him off so easily and then get them out of that position. What sentence did the regular guy receive for this many offenses ? Money and position will buy you anything it seems.
