Austin Knudsen’s Republican legislature left without delivering Montana jobs in 2015 as it failed to pass an infrastructure bill.
“(Republicans) were in a position to stop it and walk out of here feeling like they got a win. And I understand that,” said Republican House Speaker Austin Knudsen in 2015. (video of quote below)
But it’s now 2017 and we’re nearing the end of the legislative session and House Republicans have yet to act on an important jobs bill. Instead of moving Senate Bill 367 to the floor for a vote, it keeps getting stalled in the House Appropriations committee, where it has been since April 1.
Is Austin Knudsen asleep at the wheel or intentionally harming Montanans?
The Montana Republican Party’s stalling tactics on an important jobs bill need to stop. Austin Knudsen has failed Montana so many times before it is likely he will again.
In 2015, a bipartisan infrastructure package passed the Senate 47-3. But on the last day of the Legislature, a few irresponsible Republicans in the House put politics ahead of hardworking Montanans and killed infrastructure by a single vote.
Montanans are counting on the Legislature to put people to work improving our local communities, supporting our students and providing for our veterans. Republican leaders cannot fail Montanans once again.
