Knives Are Out Early in GOP Senate Primary

Here at the Cowgirl Blog most of our tipsters tend to have a viewpoint similar to our posters.

The tips tend to be:

“Can you believe this Republican did that?” or “You’re never going to believe what my Republican neighbor told me happened at the County GOP meeting!” or “Did you see Greg Gianforte body slammed a reporter!?!?!?”—wait that wasn’t a tip, it was a national news story.

You get the picture.

But the e-mail I received today was of a different kind.

It was from a self-admitted Republican who was hopping mad.

He e-mailed me in mostly caps-locked fashion screaming about how the state GOP was putting a covert plan in action for the upcoming Senate primary.

My tipster was upset by the recent new addition to the MT GOP Dream Team. Apparently the MT GOP has hired a new Executive Director.

The new Executive Director is a fellow by the name of Patrick Webb. Mr. Webb is your run of the mill GOP operative it seems. Worked for Daines, Gianforte, and Zinke. Good haircut. But our tipster seems upset by one portion of Mr. Webb’s resume.  Mr. Webb was Matt Rosendale’s chief of staff when Rosendale was in the Montana Legislature.  That did not sit well with my tipster.

My tipster feels like the GOP establishment is playing favorites and “the fix is in.”

It would seem the Grand Old Party’s has their man. Of course, after their other man moved to DC, and the other one left them at the alter.  But hey, 3rd time’s the charm!

That’s fine by me, I’d love to see Baltimore’s finest try and talk about his health care ideas. The most recent one I saw was a snake-oil insurance company put out by the Christian Care Ministry called Medi-Share.

But man was my tipster mad.   He pointed out that Rosendale hasn’t even officially announced and yet it seems the MT GOP is anointing him King.

This is probably upsetting for the candidates who have actually announced for the 2018 Senate: Troy Downing, Ron Murray, Scott McLean, and Dr. Albert Olszewski.

And of course for sitting Billings Judge Russell Fagg. Who is totally just exploring a run ;) and hasn’t made up his mind ;).

Mr. Downing, Mr. Murray, Mr. McLean, Dr. Olszewski, if you would like to tell me how you feel about this feel free to reach out. I imagine my tipster is a supporter of yours.

And Judge Fagg, if you’d like to explore how this might impact your attempt to maybe run for political office you can explore my inbox as well.

Either way, it’s only July and the knives are already coming out. Get your popcorn ready.

  1. Can you believe:
Portland man accused of sexually assaulting 65-year-old had been deported 20 times

    • An undocumented man from Indiana who is married to a Trump supporter was deported to Mexico despite his wife’s pleas.

Roberto Beristain had no criminal record but had to check in with immigration authorities after his illegal status was revealed when he inadvertently crossed the border into Canada in a family trip.

“He hadn’t committed any crimes. He didn’t even have a parking ticket,” family attorney Adam Ansari said, as quoted by CNN.

DEPORTATION DRAMA ENTERS PRO-TRUMP HOUSEHOLD IN NORTHERN INDIANA

“From everyone’s accounts he is probably one of the most lovable guys you will ever meet. He is a loving husband and father. And he put a lot of work into his restaurant.”

When her husband was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) last month, Helen Beristain was confident he would not be deported because he is “a good man.”

“We were for Mr. Trump,” she said. “We were very happy he became the president. Whatever he says, he is right. But, like he said, the good people have a chance to become citizens of the United States.”

      • Dam, so now she will have to hire a US citizen and they have to pay taxes for schools and take part of the health care and pay into social security……but he should do fine in Mexico with all that cash he has rat-hold over the years. But now if he seeks back he will be a felon. I guess he should have got a green card, work permit, put in for one of the amnesty programs or maybe he does have a criminal record in Mexico we don’t know about.

    • Yes, this is why people have been saying our immigration system is broken. They have been saying that for well over a decade.

So we have 2 choices, throw this POS in prison and pay to feed him or send him back and he will promptly duck through again. And before you try and go there, Tiny Hands Trump and his fucking wall will not stop him.

  2. Now we have a new term: Sanctuary City Rape!

    • “A 16-year-old student has been charged with seven counts of felony sexually assault after five female classmates decided to come forward as a group to detail how he allegedly sexually abused them on several occasions while on their Vermont private school campus.

Connor Tatro, who is being charged as an adult because of the severity of the allegations, is accused of forcing the five female students to perform sexual acts at several locations on the Thetford Academy campus in 2016 and 2017. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.”

      • SEATTLE – A 23-year-old DREAMer in Washington state is accused of brutally raping a 19-year-old woman in her apartment complex’s gym and leaving her with severe facial injuries — including a broken jaw and dangling ear.

The woman ended up stumbling home with missing teeth, a bloody head and wearing only a black tank top, according to court documents obtained by Fox News. She was working out in the gym in Burien, a Seattle suburb, before the June 25 assault and did not know her attacker, police said.

Salvador Diaz-Garcia, an illegal immigrant who is a recipient of Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, is now facing second-degree assault and rape charges in the vicious attack. He also faces child molestation charges for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old the same day the rape occurred.

  3. “Our headline finding is that both illegal immigrants and legal immigrants have incarceration rates far below those of native-born Americans—at 0.85 percent, 0.47 percent, and 1.53 percent, respectively. Excluding illegal immigrants who are incarcerated or in detention for immigration offenses lowers their incarceration rate to 0.5 percent of their population—within a smidge of legal immigrants. As a result, native-born Americans are overrepresented in the incarcerated population while illegal and legal immigrants are underrepresented, relative to their respective shares of the population.

The relatively low number of incarcerated illegal immigrants places some immigration restrictionists in an uncomfortable position: choosing which myth to believe. The first myth is that illegal immigrants are especially crime-prone. The second myth is that there are actually two to three times as many illegal immigrants as is commonly reported. The usual number used by the government and most demographers is that there are 11 to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States but a steady drumbeat of skeptics claim the real number is about 22 to 36 million.”

But you racist rightwingnuta go ahead and keep desperately clinging to your talking points. Enjoy the higher prices you’ll be paying for fruits, vegetables, meat products, etc. as that workforce get deported.

“MERCED, Calif. — Jeff Marchini and others in the Central Valley here bet their farms on the election of Donald J. Trump. His message of reducing regulations and taxes appealed to this Republican stronghold, one of Mr. Trump’s strongest bases of support in the state.

As for his promises about cracking down on illegal immigrants, many assumed Mr. Trump’s pledges were mostly just talk. But two weeks into his administration, Mr. Trump has signed executive orders that have upended the country’s immigration laws. Now farmers here are deeply alarmed about what the new policies could mean for their workers, most of whom are unauthorized, and the businesses that depend on them.

“Everything’s coming so quickly,” Mr. Marchini said. “We’re not loading people into buses or deporting them, that’s not happening yet.” As he looked out over a crew of workers bent over as they rifled through muddy leaves to find purple heads of radicchio, he said that as a businessman, Mr. Trump would know that farmers had invested millions of dollars into produce that is growing right now, and that not being able to pick and sell those crops would represent huge losses for the state economy. “I’m confident that he can grasp the magnitude and the anxiety of what’s happening now.”

Mr. Trump’s immigration policies could transform California’s Central Valley, a stretch of lowlands that extends from Redding to Bakersfield. Approximately 70 percent of all farmworkers here are living in the United States illegally, according to researchers at University of California, Davis. The impact could reverberate throughout the valley’s precarious economy, where agriculture is by far the largest industry. With 6.5 million people living in the valley, the fields in this state bring in $35 billion a year and provide more of the nation’s food than any other state.”

    • 0.5 percent is a acceptable number? 0.5 percent of 11 million is 55,000. What percentage of those are released back into the public in Sanctuary Cities?

There’s already an agricultural guest worker program — the H-2A visa program. And use has gone up steadily over the past five years, as fewer workers enter the country illegally.

36-year-old Eugenio says he’s crossed the border eight times illegally. But he says border security is so tight now he hasn’t been home to Mexico in five years. “I’m trying to figure out how to come with a work visa,” he says. “I’d really like that.”

Elfego worries legal guest workers from Mexico would replace him. “What happens with those of us who are here? He’ll deport us because we’re illegal,” he says.

  4. Old Line Democrat | August 3, 2017 6:22 AM at 6:22 AM |

Not coincidental that the illegal immigration rants fly just before Trump’s latest debacle on the issue. Steve Miller spent some time priming the pump for bullet and his pals before putting it all on display at a WH press conference. Things are going bad, Trump has a new, mean babysitter so they have to run back to stir the base with these ravings. Pretty sad!

    • Old Line can I buy you a vacation to Portland, Seattle or SF? Make sure you make a stop at some of their emergency rooms and report back to us what you see. Plus enjoy your evening walks.

      • Old Line Democrat | August 4, 2017 7:56 PM at 7:56 PM |

        Sure.
I have a pretty good idea what I would see at any emergency room in those cities. They are generally filled with the poor who use the ER as their only health care. Those of us with insurance subsidize that. There are a lot of young white folks mostly men who have no insurance but get treated for their motorcycle or car crash injuries. There will be a few gunshot wounds and a few asssult type injuries. There will be rape victims male and female, domestic abuse victims and abused children. There will be plenty of poor white people od’d on meth or opioids or heroin. But the one thing I won’t be able to report is who is an alien and who is not. I would prefer to spend money on addiction treatment and basic health coverage than spend huge sums on harassing the undocumented. By the way walking in certain parts of any city or town can be dangerous with Billings, Great Falls and Missoula among them. But it is not the result of immigration. You are clearly a person of low self esteem who needs to have somebody, anybody to feel superior to. You are pathetic in your ignorance.

  5. Very good, informative, helpful Post by Montana Hat.
    Many thanks to tipster.
