Montana GOP Caught Lying in Anti-Bullock Ad

The fine folks at the Montana Republican Party have a television ad scheduled to go up today that contains lies about Steve Bullock.

The ad says, “Attorneys General across the nation, Republicans and Democrats, joined together to fight Obamacare at the Supreme Court.”

Not true.

According to documents filed with the U.S. Supreme Court, twenty-two Attorneys General filed a challenge to the Affordable Care Act. All are Republicans, as you can see from this list.

And so, it appears that even the Montana Republican Party is aware that its candidates can’t win without lying to the voters. Stations are prohibited from running ads unless they “make a reasonable inquiry” to determine whether this advertising is true. Airing false advertisements would be a disservice to Montana voters–and a violation of federal law.

Another One Bites the Dust

Another myth perpetrated by Republicans seeking to deceive the public has been shattered. Last week, Governor Brian Schweitzer shot down the GOP’s claims that ”taxes and regulations,” are to blame differing oil development levels in Montana and North Dakota, the AP reported. This week, the Great Falls Tribune is reporting that more domestic oil drilling does not drive the price of oil down. In fact, as domestic drilling has increased, oil prices have shot up.
