A legal analysis has revealed that Max Lenington, the embattled Yellowstone County chief and the head of the county school system, might be immune to a recall effort.
It seems that sending racist emails and engaging in plagiarism from your work computer do not rise to the level of “official misconduct, incompetence or felony offense” needed to boot a county official, based on past legal precedents.
One might conclude that the we need new laws to rectify this problem. But might I suggest something else?
In the future, when a dumb, backwater Tea Partier crawls out from under a rock to offer himself as a candidate, perhaps citizens should consider that such a candidate, such an archetype, is likely to disappoint in the end. And the citizens will get what they deserve if they elect him.
It’s a good reason to look carefully at who you elect, rather than just electing someone because they complain about “too much spending” or whatever other substantive intellectual content carried the day for Lenington in his last election.
The voters of Yellowstone county should now enjoy another 12 months of a Lenington incumbency, since this imbecile appears to be digging in his heels and refusing to heed calls for him to resign from the state’s largest newspaper. Maybe next time voters will be more inclined to investigate who, exactly, they are voting for. Have a nice day.
The Billings Gazette reported this weekend that the Republican County official who sent emails from his government office using the n-word and including other bigoted remarks has said he would resign if the the taxpayers pay him $90,000–equivalent to a year of his salary. Continue reading
Most people who email the blog send in tips or thanks–but not everyone. Here are some of the more interesting ‘hate emails’ I’ve received recently:
Terry Lane writes of the post Montana Republican Caught Calling Obama the N-Word: says he is “by no means a racist”
“It is a sad remark since obama is 1/2 white, 1/4 arab and 1/4 black. But he seems to use his blackness to create guilt to get his way and ignores the other hues.”
MT GOPer “baffled” that Obama elected; Says “It must mean there are more lesbians, queers, Indians, Mexicans and n—words than the rest of us”
Billings Gazette is reporting today that an elected Republican official in Billings says he won’t resign after using the n-word in an email criticizing President Obama. Continue reading
A Yellowstone County school superintendent has published a letter to the editor in the Billings Gazette to say “There is just no possible way; whereby, a white president and his wife could ignore the law, flaunt their position and be the lord of the people, as these two are permitted out of fear for their color.”
Republican Max Lenington is the county school superintendent and treasurer of Montana’s largest county. His letter in yesterday’s Billings Gazette entitled “Why I hate Barack and Michelle Obama” bears some striking similarities to this Daily Rant post, “Why I do not like the Obamas”. The Billings Gazette also has a story out.
There is no scenario known to man, whereby a white president and his wife could ignore laws, flaunt their position, and lord over the people as these two are permitted out of fear for their color.
There is just no possible way; whereby, a white president and his wife could ignore the law, flaunt their position and be the lord of the people, as these two are permitted out of fear for their color.
I don’t like them because they are committed to the fundamental change of my/our country into what can only be regarded as a Communist state.
I don’t like them because they are attempting to fundamentally change my country into what only can be called Communist or Socialist.”
they are the worst kind of racialists, they are elitist Leninists with contempt for traditional America. They display disrespect for the sanctity of the office he holds,
they are the very worst kind of racialist and they are elitist Leninists who hold contempt for my very traditional America. They both have displayed disrespect for the sanctity of the office that he holds.
I don’t like them because they comport themselves as emperor and empress.
I dislike them as they present themselves as an emperor and an empress.
This isn’t the first time Lenington has been caught with his hand in the plagiarism cookie jar. A previous letter that Lenington wrote is largely a cut and paste of this World Net Daily petition. Yet another letter to the editor Lenington wrote accuses the president of treason.
Makes you wonder what the punishment for Yellowstone County students caught plagiarizing is.
A Montana Republican School Superintendent and County Treasurer is accusing President Obama of treason and calling for his impeachment.
Max Lenington (R), the elected County treasurer and school superintendent of Montana’s most populous county, wrote in today’s Billings Gazette that President Obama:
is assuredly the worst president in the 236 years of our existence, a term predicated not only on treasonous action, but impeachable activity as well.
He has made a mockery of our Americanism by his association with known derelicts, the breaching and ignoring of our Constitution, and belittling whomever differs with his impeachable political ideals.
Apparently Lenington has a lot of free time on his hands to write such letters. Word on the street in Billings is that Lenington has barely even been in to the school superintendent’s office in more than a year, leaving a woman in that office to do all of his work.
For a Yellowstone County elected official to refer to the President’s actions as “treasonous” without even specifically outlining any complaints, seems irresponsible. Especially in light of another Yellowstone County “Pillar of the Community,” Judge Richard Cebull, who forwarded a racist email from his work computer to some of his good ol’ buddies. The email contained a “joke” about Obama’s mother having sex with dogs.
