The 2013 Legislative session is at the halfway point - what do you see as the most outrageous moment of the session to date?

Steve Lavin's (R-Kalispell) HB 486--a bill to give corporations the right to vote.
John Brenden's (R-Scoby) bill to allow legislative bribes of $500 per week, HB 241.
A budget committee eliminated family planning for 27,000 people--which means more unintended pregnancies and an increased need for abortion.
Republicans killed a bill to hire Montanans first HB 490 by Amanda Curtis (D-Butte), but passed massive corporate tax giveaways (HB 230 by Scott Reichner (R-Bigfork).
Are you kidding? David Howard and Krayton Kerns are committee chairs.
The GOP Senate infighting and leak of emails detailing a takeover plot by the far-right wing.

The large number of unconstitutional bills from a party who claims to value the constitution.

“Top Two” proposal offered by GOP

Rep. Scott Reichner, R-Bigfork, has introduced a bill to change our election laws so that libertarians can no longer gum up the works for the GOP. This is an effort that we all presumed would be made this session, given the humiliation suffered by Denny Rehberg when a full seven percent of right wing voters walked way from him and voted Libertarian.

And so Reichner has now been assigned by his party to propose that we replace our current primary election with a “Top Two” primary system. Continue reading →
